The Cultural Affairs Main Committee of Spinghar Institute of Higher Education (Nangarhar) organized an informational program on the occasion of Air Pollution Prevention and Environmental Protection Week on Monday (11 November, 2024).

In addition to the institute’s administrative staff, lecturers, service staff, students, employees from the Environmental Protection Directorate also attended the event to raise public awareness on the air pollution prevention and environmental protection.

During the opening speech, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Mr. Nasir Khan Jamal, welcomed the participants and discussed the necessity and importance of the program. He expressed gratitude to the relevant stakeholders for organizing the event. He emphasized individual responsibilities regarding environmental protection, drawing attention to global issues related to the environment.

Mr. Fazal Rahman Ziarmal, Vice Chancellor of Students Affairs, delivered an informational seminar titled “Environmental Protection and Pollution Prevention from an Islamic Perspective.” He provided comprehensive insights into key aspects of the topic, including the definition of the environment and pollution, their types and the importance of environmental protection and air pollution prevention in light of Islamic teachings.

On behalf of the Environmental Protection Directorate of Nangarhar Province, Dr. Abdul Raziq Sherzai expressed his gratitude to Spinghar Institute of Higher Education for prioritizing environmental protection. He delivered a detailed presentation on climate change, pollution and environmental conservation. He also emphasized the responsibilities of various governmental and non-governmental organizations, especially educational institutions, at the provincial level.

It is noteworthy that multiple activities have been planned for Air Pollution Prevention and Environmental Protection Week. These include informational seminars, conferences and public awareness programs, which was conducted in this week.
